EMPLOYER FIELD GUIDE · EOR COSTS

Know what an EOR quote
really costs.

The service fee is only one part of the budget. Separate recurring employment costs, one-off charges and refundable deposits before you approve a hire.

01 / READ THE LINE ITEMS

A service fee is not an employment budget.

An EOR acts as the legal employer for the arrangement. Payroll administration is one part of that service; paying the person and funding the employment costs are separate budget questions. If you already have an employing entity, compare payroll administration through it before assuming you need an EOR.

Deel's pricing page describes service scope, while its invoice documentation distinguishes payroll costs from service fees. Use the written scope and itemised quote for your actual hire, not a headline fee alone.

Employment costs
Gross pay, employer contributions and the benefits included in the employment package.
Service & additional charges
The EOR fee plus any quoted items not already included. Check each inclusion before adding it again.
One-off costs
Quoted setup and expected exit charges. A zero in a model does not confirm these are free.
Refundable deposit
Cash held under contract terms. Keep it separate from non-refundable charges.

Deel's documentation describes Employer Liability Cost as mandatory for its active EOR contracts and listed under Employment Costs. Confirm its amount and whether your employment subtotal already includes it, so you do not omit it or add it twice. Deel Help — Employer Liability Cost — source reference below

02 / WORK WITH YOUR NUMBERS

Cost and cash flow, kept separate.

FREE · NO SIGNUP

Enter one consistent currency and the same package for every employee. This planner adds your figures; it does not estimate taxes or fetch provider prices. For different salaries, start dates or terms, run separate groups.

Illustrative starting values — not a Deel quote. Replace them with written amounts. Zero means omitted, not verified free.

Team & period

Changing currency only changes the label. Convert your quote separately and include any actual FX charges.

Per employee, per month

Employment costs should already include gross pay, employer contributions and included benefits. Need a planning estimate? Add an item only once.

Per employee, once

Enter the quoted deposit amount, not an assumed multiple. Exit costs may need payroll, notice or severance estimates; this tool does not calculate entitlements.

No names or contact details. Amounts are not stored in application events.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE

Your funding plan

For 1 employee(s) over 12 month(s).

Planned cost over the period
USD 79,200.00
Recurring costs + setup + entered exit costs. Deposit excluded.
Monthly recurring total
USD 6,600.00
One-off charges included above
USD 0.00
Refundable deposit, held separately
USD 9,000.00
First-month funding scenario
USD 15,600.00
First month + setup + deposit, assuming all are funded at the start.
Outflows before deposit return
USD 88,200.00
Period cost + deposit, assuming return after all bills are paid. Not a second cost total.

Flat monthly amounts, simultaneous starts, one setup and one exit per employee. No automatic tax, FX, salary change, pro-rata or deposit-offset calculation. Actual invoice timing and final settlement can differ.

Show the arithmetic & assumptions

Monthly total = employees × (employment costs + service fee + additional costs). Period cost = monthly total × months + employees × (setup + exit). Deposit held = employees × deposit. First-month funding = monthly total + employees × setup + deposit held.

All amounts are in your chosen currency. Fees entered here are not synced with the other Yepaa calculators. If a deposit is used against the final bill, adjust the cash schedule rather than counting the bill and its offset as two separate expenses.

03 / BEFORE YOU SIGN

Six checks that make a quote useful.

A cheaper monthly fee can coexist with different funding terms or a narrower service. Use the same questions for every offer.

Deel's deposit documentation describes amounts based on monthly charges, with variations for some situations and conditions at final settlement. Ask for the actual amount, funding currency and release conditions in writing.

  1. Confirm the employment location

Where will the employee physically work, who will employ them, and is that arrangement available for the role?

  2. Define the same pay package

Gross salary, mandatory items, bonus, benefits, currency and start date. Identify amounts that are already included.

  3. Break out the service scope

What is included, charged separately or conditional? Check benefit administration versus the benefit's cost.

  4. Map the funding dates

Ask when salary funding, fees and deposit are due. Confirm invoice and payment currencies, conversion charges and any prefunding.

  5. Check the exit and deposit terms

What happens on an early exit, at final payroll or if the deposit offsets a bill? Obtain the conditions, not an assumed instant refund.

  6. Compare the same scenario

Use the same headcount, period and employment package. Keep costs separate from cash held; list every exclusion you still need to price.

QUICK ANSWERS

EOR cost questions

01Is the EOR service fee the total cost of employment?

No. Keep the service fee separate from salary, employer contributions, benefits and any additional quoted items. Deel documents payroll costs separately from its fee invoice. Compare the same employment package and period.

02Is a refundable EOR deposit an extra expense?

In this planning tool it is cash held separately, not an extra operating cost. Refunds and offsets depend on the contract and final settlement. Do not count the same final invoice twice if the deposit is used to settle it. This is not accounting or tax advice.

03Does the calculator use current Deel prices?

No. The initial values are an illustrative example, not a Deel quote. Replace them with written amounts. The currency selector changes the label only; it does not convert a quote or include FX charges.

04Can I compare two EOR offers here?

Run each offer using the same currency, headcount, duration and employment package. Compare the period cost and initial funding separately, then check service scope and exclusions. A lower displayed cost does not establish legal suitability or better service.

05What if I already have a local company?

Compare payroll administration through that company before assuming you need an EOR. Payroll processing and acting as the legal employer are different responsibilities. The EOR-versus-entity calculator can help compare operating fees, but does not decide legal suitability.
